Although credit is a factor, a bad credit report will not prevent you from renting a home. Renting with bad credit is about prescreening, packaging, and presenting. You don't have to have a good credit report you just have to have something else the landlord can use to prove that you are willing and able to pay the rent.

*You need a cosigner- No you don't. I have had great success with renting a house with bad credit without a cosigner. I have 3 foreclosures, 2 repossessions, and more than $78,000 of collections on my report.

*Your only options are no credit check apartments or no credit check homes. You don't have to limit yourself. Landlords are open to whatever is on your credit report provided you prepare them in advance of pulling it.

*Rent to own is your best option. No it's not. It's much easier than you think to rent an apartment with bad credit. You can even look at regular apartments and not limit yourself to the no credit check apartments.

*You won't get approved without prior rental history. You can get approved. It does not matter who you are currently living with, or whether or not you are currently paying any rent. You can get an apartment with bad credit and it does not have to be one of those no credit check apartments. Just show the landlord that you are willing to pay the rent.

*You cannot have any collections, judgments, bankruptcies of foreclosures- If that was the case I would be living on the streets as I have two of the three. Even having a foreclosure can be properly packaged to get a landlord to accept your rental application.

Those are the three key points when looking to quickly rent a home or apartment with bad credit. Notice I did not say anything about a good credit report because your credit report is not the most important part of the equation.
