Colorado Aspen Realtor Market Heats Up

As the mercury rises with the summer sun, the Colorado real estate market heats up along with it. Some positive economic activity across Colorado has caused a growth in sales numbers in many areas – as well as a surge in home values.

In the last two years, housing values across the country have dropped. In places like Detroit, the price of an average home has nosed-dived nearly twenty-five in the preceding two years. On the other hand, Genesse, Colorado, thirty minutes west of Denver, has seen the typical price of a three-bedroom home rise nearly eighteen percent in the last several months.

In the more expensive locations of Colorado, the last couple years has brought nearly twenty-five percent increases in overall home values. In towns like Vail and Telluride, the typical home’s value has steadily dipped for the last four years, but over the last twenty-four months sales are mushrooming as buyers take advantage of the low interest rates – increasing prices almost sixteen percent in just the last quarter.

A historic view of the Colorado housing trends reveals that even when jobs are scarce and money is tight, real estate does not drop as much value as most other areas of the country. Obviously, housing values sink when the economy slows, but Colorado’s stunning landscape and intellectual diversity seem to retard the decline a little – so when things behin to look bright once again real estate in Colorado gets hotter than ever.

The economic downturn of the couple of years dramatically affected many Colorado communities. However, even the most impacted regions of the state are beginning to rebound. Increasing energy prices have grown the demand for the natural gas all over western Colorado. As the energy companies hire more workers for good jobs the foreclosure numbers have been reduced to pre-2008 levels in many counties. These towns are seeing upward movement on sales numbers as well as overall prices as the general Colorado real estate market heats up. In early 2009 in Parachute and Battlement Mesa – two small towns in the heart of Colorado’s energy industry – close to one-third of the houses stood vacant. Foreclosures claimed many houses and now those homes are witnessing increased interest as the economy begins to improve and investors are buying homes that were built a couple years ago at the height of the boom but have never been purchased. Often this means a brand-new property at up to thirty percent less than it was built for.

I think you should take advantage of all your happy REC customers to get them personally involved in the solar energy industry!

To give your customers a sense of being a “solar energy activist and supporter of REC Solar” You could create some sort of a REC solar political action committee, maybe in the form of an online newsletter. Wherein customers could become more involved in the solar energy industry through activism.
For example you could give them the information about the Solar Bill of Rights, and encourage them to sign on. This way they would be supporting REC by creating a pro solar atmosphere, as well as having a sense of accomplishment and belonging to a good cause that they already believe in.
It could be as simple as a signature to show support, or you could provide them with information on the political happenings in the renewable industry in Arizona, and encourage them to speak with their local representative like the ACC members.

environmentalists like Mark Udall are reversing their opposition to drilling.

Sorry to say, Colin, but what you're saying here is just the classical liberal reaction to these kind of issues: "We just need to inform the public!" It's not going to work. And if Democrats lose the energy debate — the debate of century — we could see massive implications for November and for the future. And forget climate legislation — if Republicans can beat Democrats on new oil drilling, they will destroy us on policy that tries to increase energy prices.

There's an old saying that applies well here: "Deal with reality — or reality will deal with you."]]>
