WASHINGTON, DC – The joint effort by Congressman John Boccieri (D-Alliance) and Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) to name Canton's new federal building in honor of former Congressman Ralph Regula today came before the full House of Representatives. A final vote will be taken tomorrow but the measure is expected to pass overwhelmingly.

"This tribute to Congressman Regula rightfully honors the service of a true statesman – a man whose tireless dedication and advocacy for Ohio and his district serves as a model for all elected officials. This designation of The Ralph Regula Federal Building and US Courthouse will forever remind of us his commitment to our community," said Boccieri.

"In addition, I applaud Senator Brown for recognizing a fine statesman like Ralph Regula and look forward to working together to honor Ralph's work and his commitment to Ohio," Boccieri further noted.

"I applaud the House passage of our bill, which honors my former colleague Ralph Regula," Brown said. "Ralph served his constituents with great distinction, and this building will be a testament to his achievements and his legacy. I commend Mr. Boccieri for his efforts and look forward to the next steps to ensure our legislation is passed into law."

The Brown-Boccieri legislation will name the new federal building at the corner of McKinley Avenue and Third Street Southwest the "Ralph Regula Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse." The bill will now go to the Senate for a full vote before it can be signed into law.
