The Royal Nuptuals Takes The Country's Mind Off The Economic Issues And The Weather Assists Too

18

We are not in a great economic position here in Britain at the moment and to be brutal we haven’t been for quite some time. Our jobless figures are the biggest we have seen for a decade and there are loads of young, knowledgable people leaving university with simply no hope of securing a paid position. The property sector is deflated and those wanting a quick property sale or having to sell house fast have no opportunity at all. Our inflation is going through the roof. Grocery charges, as for the rest of the world, are rising dramatically and fuel is at least 25% more expensive than this time two years ago. It isn’t that long ago that we had strikes by hauliers shouting that petrol had gone above £1.00 a litre, now you are hard pressed to find it for less than £1.30 and not a strike in sight. We are simply used to being squeezed now and mortgage interest could be next.

Nevertheless in the midst of all this darkness is something pleasant to lift the spirits. The Royal Wedding takes place at the end of this month and we will see the good looking Prince William marry the gorgeous Katherine Middleton, a happy occasion surely even for the non royalist who will still get an extra days holiday. We are to have an additional bank holiday on the Friday that they marry and taking into account the Easter holidays and May Day holiday this means that the majority of the country will have two short working weeks. In addition to this the weather is beautiful, some ten warmer than is usual for this time of year. Perhaps we are getting some kind of pay back for our stoic attitude and toughness. Let’s hope so and let’s also hope that after the festivities are over the mood stays to keep us going through the next 12 months as it doesn’t look like the economy or our personal situations will get much better over that time.

Hi Richard & Sue,

You might like to look at my guide which I am putting together.. albeit slowly. Your trip has spurred me on to complete what I started back in July of last year! I am now going to get it finished hopefully over this bank holiday, so it will be head down to do that!

You will just love the Nene, it is so very different from the canal system, we hope you enjoy as much as we did. If you have any questions at all then email me. We have spent many summers in the fens.

Due to some personal situations I have been away from the boards recently and just got a chance today to check in on the blog. I am sure this must be an extremely difficult process and there will be lots of tears along the way, but I think it will be a wonderful healing process for you, for us and anyone who gets to read the book. I can't wait to read the first chapter.
Thanks for doing this Deanna!

Modern economic strategyy is the same as helping out a mafia dominated neighborhood by protecting the position of the loan sharks.

England actually has fewer holidays (but then people get more vacation). The bank holidays are Christmas, Boxing Day, New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Early May Bank Holiday, Spring Bank Holiday (coincides with Memorial Day but of no significance), Summer Bank Holiday (1 week before Labor Day but of no significance).

So all the holidays are either religious or of no meaning. Weird.

Interesting graphic – it appears here that our county is very high in foeclosures. Clearly most are not happening in Greenwich – are we immune from this level of forclosure based on our unique economic position – or will this type of thing eventuall drog our market down too.]]>

Vinny: Of course I have an idea of what I'm talking about and the fact remains, Blacks have been elected to the highest offices at a state level for quite some time, and to congress for more than a hundred years. We've been ready for a Black president for quite some time, it just took a candidate that enough people thought could do the job to make it happen.]]>
