All property owed by a bankruptcy petitioner falls under the supervisor of the bankruptcy court’s trustee that is assigned to your case as soon as the paperwork is in the hands of the court. Whether you have filed Chapter 13 or Chapter 7, the court may ultimately advise that some of your property and possessions be liquidated to pay off creditors. However, the court recognizes that some property needs to be retained for day to day living and allows such belongings to be termed “exempt” by your bankruptcy attorney from Columbus and the bankruptcy court.

The definition of “exempt” assets changes from state to state but generally the term means any assets that cannot be seized by creditor of the court. These things include things such as your toothbrush, your hair brush, and “ordinary” furniture (as compared to exotic or very expensive furnishings). Things deemed medically necessary are also considered exempt in most states. Some examples are walkers, contact lenses, prosthetic limbs, crutches and wheelchairs. Columbus bankruptcy advocate can provide you with a more complete list accepted by the Ohio bankruptcy court.

The limits on the monetary value of these assets also varies from state to state. For instance, the value of your clothing may be exempt up to a certain value and non-exempt over that. Jewelry also can be retained up to certain limits. For instance, if your wedding ring is extremely expensive or exotic, it may not be considered exempt. But, before you panic, check with your Columbus bankruptcy attorney.

The following assets are considered exempt in most states:

? Unpaid wages
? Some of the equity in a residence.
? Some of the equity in a vehicle.
? Life insurance value
? Tools of a trade or profession, usually up to a set limit
? Reasonable necessary clothing
? Reasonably necessary furniture
? Household appliances
? Jewelry, up to a set limit (usually a few hundred dollars)
? Pensions
? Public benefits

The bankruptcy courts know that by the time a debtor has reached the point of filing bankruptcy, their assets have dwindled in both number and value and are mostly either exempt or worthless. In the event that the trustee assigned to your case deems any of your assets “worthless”, he or she may prefer to abandon that asset, meaning that he or she finds it worthless and you may keep that asset. A number of assets may be considered too “cumbersome”, meaning that that asset is either too large, too unique or too hard to sell. In this case, that asset may be abandoned by the court as well.

You're probably perfectly correct but justice delayed is likely justice forgotten in these cases. You're right but it's too bad you're right.

I suppose it's even possible the people behind Bush precipitated this world-wide economic crisis for this reason.

Certainly they knew the full extent of their crimes, even if we never will and the economic crisis just happens to do a grand job of covering all their asses!

I hate coincidences.

POWER OF PRIDE… FREEDOM ISN'T FREE? Either of those cover the tab here? No? Maybe we can send them some left over Britney Spears Calendars and some other shiny trinkets. Oh that's right, the Ambassador said we already paid our war debts back in the 70's – problem solved:)

Maybe if Wall Street was located in Vietnam we could make this a financial recovery issue.

I like how the US has committed to sending a few million dollars. Yeah, that should really help clean up the chromosomes of the affected millions of people.

Lens1, you make it tough to be a proud American, enough with the truth. It is almost Christmas and I know you are a big fan!!!

Moving on will happen only when the Press does the right thing and pays what is due. There are no excuses acceptable when employees find that they no longer have a job, no payment for unpaid wages, and their social security is jeopardized. I have worked for 40 years in my industry and those long hours and lack of time off are a way of life. Never taking trips and working hard does not justify what has been done. It's not over yet.

There are basic principles that we can do when it comes to financial recovery.

First is to change the lifestyle to cut off some expenses. Make sure that the expenses is a lot lower than the income.

If you have issue with paying a high interest loan or shark loan as other would say, make sure to prioritize to settle this or at least cut the interest.

Interesting point about Kafka's "rant" in chapter 7. I've always thought this chapter could be half as long — even a few pages long! — and still make its point. Much of what is revealed about the court or the trial is stated once, then stated again in a different way.

But I see continuity, not a break. To me, the ideas in chapter 7 are consistent with what we've seen so far: the court is inaccessible and indecipherable; guilt is fixed, and what matters is how you respond to it; the law is unknowable and might not even exist.
