Options Available for Handling Your Debts: There are several choices available to you for dealing with your debts. One way is to do nothing. This option is probably the most popular approach employed by those who are deep in debt. Frequently, these people have a very low income and maybe no property and do not usually expect any change in their lifestyle. If you do not anticipate any significant income in the near future, you could consider this option.
However, doing nothing does not really help, so perhaps you can find some money to pay your debts. You could do this by, first, selling a major asset, like a car or a house. This can be a good choice if you can no longer afford your car or house payments. Instead of waiting for a repossession or foreclosure to happen, selling the property is always a better solution.
The proceeds you gain from the sales should be put towards lessening your debt. Moreover, you have to remember to pay off the liens placed by the creditors and use anything that is left to pay (something) off your other debts too. However, before taking this step, make sure that you have already worked out a solution to your accommodation or transport requirements.
Another way to help you pay off your debts, is to cut your expenses. This will help you not only in the repayment of your debts but also in negotiating with your creditors. Try to shrink the cost of your food by clipping coupons, purchasing generic brands, buying when there is a sale on or shopping at discount stores.
However, if you cannot cut your expenses significantly, you could always borrow money from a tax-deferred account. Tax-deferred retirement accounts, like IRA or 401(k), can be used to help pay off debts by withdrawing money from them before retirement. However, since you might have to pay a penalty or taxes, this must only serve as your last resort.

I agree with you Ron. My point is that as we 'know' God better and begin to worship him we become the best we can be and that is the ultimate self help. The 'self' part of self help is actually setting self aside and allowing God to occupy the throne in our lives and acknowledging his sovereignty, and in so doing become more of what he wants us to be which is our best. Similarly if you read the reviews of most 'self-help' books, you will notice that most are written by other self-help authors.

Hi! I love this post. This reminds me of John Eliot's book, Overachievement – It's filed in under self-help, but boy, if I could recommend only one self-help book, this would be it. This differentiates the "training mindset" from the "performance mindset", and says that a reason why lots of people fail during performance is that they use their "training mindset" while at it. It's a pretty engaging read because it covers all kinds of "performers" (and the scientific data to back it all up)- athletes, musicians, businessmen.
